Team for Chelsea
Too early to say the wheels have come off, like the old West Ham, but as Moyes admits, it's certainly a sticky patch. Not an ideal time to be playing Chelsea. But having said that, we usually raise our game against them, so hopefully that will happen again.

The "team picks itself" approach is all very well when you're winning, but it starts to wear a bit thin when you're in a run like this. I hope that will be Moyes' thinking too. The options are limited, but one or two changes, surely?

Hopefully Cresswell will be back. On the right, Johnson has really shown his limitations in the last couple of games, looking nervous and indecisive on the ball, so it's Coufal back in, for me.

Benrahma has continued to frustrate and I would have no hesitation in dropping him. Possibly Vlasic but probably Lanzini in his place. Up front, Antonio would be dropped if we had an alternative. Enough said.

Agree with the exile.

Except to add that Masuaku should not be allowed in the stadium let alone near the subs bench.

He simply does not know how to defend and is adding less and less going forward (although that could be said for all 4 of our ‘attacking’ starters…).

Fabianski coufal zouma diop cresswell rice soucek kral fornals lanzini Bowen . I'd stiffen up the midfield as if we give the plastics the space we gave Brighton they'll murder us . Antonio is shattered and benrhama looks low on confidence so I'd bench them.

Re: Team for Chelsea
Got to hope Cresswell is back. Missed his crossing last night.

If anything he and Benrahma link well together.
Benrahma was playing same balls to Johnson who was then scared to use his left foot.

Coufal and the Brighton number 3 had a good battle. Both got forward well I thought. Coufal has to start for me.

Maybe Diop for Dawson ?

He might start Lanzini but play 3 in midfield.

Time to move to plan D - clone Rice.
Think Dolly the sheep.
A couple of extra Rices will be enough, one for centre back and one upfront.
If that's too stupid an idea then try playing Arthur on the left to add extra cover, now that would be really ridiculous

Rice is slowly but surely becoming our most offensive player with his runs from deep.

I'd play Soucek in a deeper role with Kral giving Rice license to surge forward more with the trio of Bowen, Lanzini and Fornals running off of him.

Antonio and Benrahma given a bit of time on the bench to think about how they can do better and put it into practice for the last twenty / thirty minutes.

Obviously won't happen though!

Ludo - I like that, but how do Form and Bowen learn to do better as been as bad as the other two

Of course fraser likes the team that omits Dawson and Antonio.

Re: Team for Chelsea
I'd prefer one that omitted the whole front four as said.

But we only have cover for two.. Any two would have done..

I'd go with that as we need an alternative with some energy. Kral looked like he could put in a shift.
Chelsea will also have 5 across the middle and 3 at the back.
Use your bloody subs Moyes and send Masuaku off the AFRICAN CUP early.

Re: Team for Chelsea
It’s too early to decide on a team. See how the second string go against Dynamo.

There’s too much flavour of the monthism, especially about Lanzini. We’ve been here before. He’s had games before when looked good coming on as a sub, so we’ve given him a start and he’s disappointed.

Give him, Kral and Vlasic a start against Zagreb and see how they go.

We play Chelsea this Saturday? Dynamo the following Thursday?

Re: Team for Chelsea
Uh, not the first time I got the fixtures mixed up.

Still, the point remains. Hopefully Lanzini doesn’t disappoint against Chelsea.
